Honour the Ancestors

It is to the Ancestors, both collective and personal, that our first revernce is due

Do not despise the lore that has come down from distant years; for oft it may chance that old wives keep in memory word of things that once were needful for the wise to know. -- Tolkien

The Ancestors

Many are the Ancestors who have walked this World before us. The Ancestors stretch back to the beginning, great ones in every generation who were wise in life, and who, once they had passed through never to return in Flesh, watch over we who remain. Not all of them were Pellors; yet, by their actions while alive, they have placed us where we are; and through their intervention they have placed us on the paths we walk.

Other Ancestors

We revere also those ancestors who are closer to us in time: our families, our relatives. They, too, keep watch over their descendants, and return in Dreams and by other means, carrying messages and warnings to us.

The People of the Past

Pellors do not look down on the people of the past, neither the Ancestors, nor the ancestors, as being ignorant or foolish. We know we are bound to them, and if, in these latter days, we know more, or seem wiser, kinder, better, than those who lived before us, it is only because they made the things we know and do now possible.

Some despise the Old Ways as superstition, and find it laughable. Pellors do not, but try and understand why the knowledge of tradition is different from the knowledge of science. We recognize that there is a Truth beyond mere facts, an order that many cannot recoginze; these are not less real for being uncommon views; they are not less True for being old, and mostly forgotten.
